Rocky Point Ice Cream started in 1997 as a summer ice cream shop operating out of a tiny kiosk in Rocky Point Park. Over the past few years, we have grown into a popular gathering place for locals, a destination for tourists, and now a licensed dairy plant and ice cream wonderland.  We have two roving ice cream trucks Scooper, Rocky, and a new store in New Westminster and another opening soon in Coquitlam.  In 2017 we won Best Company in BC at the Small Business BC Awards and Best Business of 2020 by the Tri-City Chamber of Commerce.

Rocky Point Ice Cream is excited to launch our new bistro-inspired canteen concept,  “The Canteen”. We will be serving a variety of items all made in house, including soups, grilled gourmet sandwiches, breakfast items, and charcuterie platters. We will continue to offer a great coffee program and excited to launch our new soft serve ice cream. We are looking for a passionate Head Baker to join our kitchen team!

About You:
You love food and enjoy working in a kitchen environment. You take pride in your work and take accountability for your results. You take care and consideration when preparing recipes and strive to maintain a clean and orderly work environment. You are a tenacious learner and innovator but can still follow structured recipes. You lead by example – no job too big, no job too small. You have previous baking experience (required) and are ready to contribute to a growing team.

Responsibilities Include:

  • baking bread
  • prepping and finishing baked goods
  • following recipes created by The Canteen
  • recipe development and creative input
  • maintaining a clean and FoodSafe kitchen
  • equipment set up, maintenance, tear down, and cleaning
  • quality control

Job Requirements:

  • experienced in a kitchen environment (please do not apply if you have no baking experience)
  • comfortable with physical work; lifting, repetitive movement
  • a team player, enthusiastic and willing to learn
  • available 5am-11am, Monday through Friday (schedule may vary for the first 3 months)
  • efficient while paying extra attention to detail
  • Food Safe certified
  • excited about working for a small business that is ever growing and searching for innovation and new ideas.

Compensation:

$18/hour (starting wage) + tips with room for growth based on experience.

  • 19+ years of age
  • FOODSAFE Level 1 Certified
  • Serving It Right Certified
  • Available for weekdays and weekends

$17/hour + tips
